The Six Nations Championship is an annual international rugby union competition involving six European national sides: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. The reigning champions are England, having won the 2016 tournament. This upcoming spring, the Highlanders are pleased to announce that they will be once again holding two Six Nations Championship viewing events at their sponsor bar: The Claddagh Irish Pub located in Southside Works. This is the first time since 2015 that the Club will be holding such events and Claddagh provides the best rugby atmosphere in the city and will be the only area bar broadcasting the Six Nations Championship live!
The first event will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 featuring Scotland kicking off against Ireland at 9:25am. That game will be followed by England playing France at 11:50am. You can stop back down on Sunday, February 5th for no additional charge to catch Italy taking on Wales at 9:00am.
The second event is very exciting, with all six teams playing on Saturday, March 18, 2017. The morning will kick off with Scotland taking on Italy at 8:30am. Following that match, France will play Wales at 10:45am. The climax match and likely championship fixture of #2 ranked England verses #4 ranked Ireland will kick off at 1:00pm.
Each event costs adults $15 at the door. $5 of the door proceeds will be donated to the Highlanders. The event is all ages with children not having to pay. Valid ID is required for purchase of alcohol. Claddagh will have their fantastic breakfast menu available and there are a number of drink specials all day including $10 domestic bottle buckets.
The Highlanders hope you will attend at least one, if not both events. This is the only bar in the city to catch all of the great games of the Six Nations Championships and an opportunity to support local rugby as we fundraise for a (hopefully) long playoff run.
